More than 600 kids from nine primary schools in Rushcliffe have learnt life-saving street smarts – thanks to a special visit from local cops.
Cops Bring Road Safety to Life
Officers handed out exclusive trading cards featuring police vehicles and even let pupils clamber inside a real patrol car. The hands-on experience meant lessons in road safety didn’t just stay in the classroom.
Calling All Schools and Youth Groups
Rushcliffe South Neighbourhood Team want more schools, Rainbows, Brownies, and local groups to get involved. Keen? The officers are ready to roll up their sleeves and visit your youth club or school.
Police Constable Praises Engagement
“Visiting schools and chatting with kids is a key part of neighbourhood policing,” said PC Kelly Carlile of Nottinghamshire Police. “Teaching road safety to primary-aged children sets them up for a safer future.”
“These visits also build positive connections between the police and the next generation. That can only be a good thing.”
Rapid Responder Trading Cards a Hit
The popular Rapid Responder cards, inspired by hits like Pokémon and Match Attax, are proving a winner with youngsters. Officers also handed out hi-vis wristbands and stickers during the talks to boost safety awareness.
PC Carlile added: “We’ve had brilliant feedback from teachers and parents. Kids are even saying they want to be police officers when they grow up – which is fantastic to hear.”
