Man Fatally Stabbed in Cardiff Tent

Jordan Cody-Foster, 31, was viciously stabbed in a tent on Hansen Street, Butetown, Cardiff, at around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. Despite frantic efforts by emergency teams and staff at the Huggard Centre, Jordan tragically died from his injuries.

Suspect’s Bizarre Escape and Arrest

Steven White, 44, fled the scene on a bike and bizarrely stopped at Cardiff Bay Retail Park to buy a stereo from Argos and a book from Asda. White later told police these purchases were made in preparation for jail. He was caught just two hours later on Habershon Street in Splott. White pleaded guilty to murder on June 8, 2022, halfway through his trial at Cardiff Crown Court and was sentenced today.

Family Speaks Out

“Jordan was a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, father, and friend, and we are still in mourning,” said his aunt, Delphine Darien.

“Jordan was brutally taken from us by the defendant Steven White on November 23, 2021, for no apparent reason. This has had a huge impact on everyone who knew and loved Jordan.

“Justice has been served, and while it will not bring Jordan back, we can now mourn in peace. The agony will never end, and we will never stop loving Jordan.”

“I’d like to thank the detectives, prosecutors, and South Wales Police Family Liaison Officer for their support during this difficult time.”

Police and Community React

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Davies, Senior Investigating Officer, added: “Jordan Cody-Foster was a much-loved son, nephew, cousin, brother, and father, and our hearts go out to his family and friends.”

“I hope today’s verdict at Cardiff Crown Court brings some solace to everyone who knew and loved Jordan.”

“His death shocked the community, especially those at the Huggard Centre. Their brave efforts to save Jordan and help throughout the investigation have been invaluable.”

South Wales Police reiterated their commitment to tackling knife crime. They urged the public: “If you suspect someone is carrying a knife, please contact police. Speaking up could save a life.”

Huggard Centre Pays Tribute

Richard Edwards, CEO of the Huggard Centre, said: “Everyone who knew Jordan and witnessed the fatal stabbing has been devastated by his death. Staff made heroic efforts to save him but sadly could not.”

“Huggard has supported homeless people on Cardiff’s streets for over 30 years. Many we help have faced trauma and complex challenges.”

“We will never abandon those in need, providing specialised support for as long as it takes.”

“While knife crime is rare in South Wales, prevention is vital. Our #NotTheOne campaign educates young people and provides vital resources to parents, teachers, and community groups.”
