Historic Hotels Join Forces with Nordic Choice for Big Booking Boost

Four iconic hotels steeped in history are teaming up with Nordic Choice Hotels from March 22. Oscarsborg Festning, Reenskaug Hotel, Kongsvinger Festning in Norway, and Torreby Slott in Sweden each boast unique Scandinavian heritage – and now they’re set to attract a wider crowd with this strategic partnership.

Old Meets New: Historic Hotels Go Modern

“Utilisation is the best protection,” says Tony Eide, Chairman and GM of The Fortress Hotels. Guests get to soak up historic vibes while enjoying modern comforts and upgraded experiences. Joining a bigger group means these gems will be easier to find and book, thanks to a stronger distribution network and advanced systems. “This move opens doors to a broader audience,” Eide adds.

Collaboration Over Competition

This deal isn’t just about bookings; it’s pioneering a fresh approach to Nordic travel. With international booking giants dominating the market, Nordic companies want to create more value on home turf. Bjørn Arild Wisth, Deputy CEO of Nordic Choice Hotels, explains:

“The Nordic travel scene has upped its game in recent years with unique products and adventures. We share that passion with The Fortress Hotels. Together, we’re offering exclusive experiences through our vast network, boosting our stance against global booking agents. Standing united helps us nurture and grow Norwegian travel services.”

Direct Bookings – The Name of the Game

The four Fortress Hotels boast 149 rooms, including spacious suites and banquet halls perfect for conferences and events. Until now, high commission fees from booking sites have been a thorn in their side.

Eide is optimistic: “Linking up with Nordic Choice gives us access to direct bookings from members and corporate clients. Nordic Choice’s recent international success with standout hotels like Amerikalinjen, Villa Copenhagen, and Sommerro is exciting. We’re eager to join that winning team.”

Strawberry Rebrand Fuels Future Growth

Last year, The Fortress Hotels announced a rebrand to Strawberry, signalling a new growth strategy. With 2.3 million members, the fresh partnerships are set to broaden the portfolio and enhance guest offers.

Wisth teases big announcements ahead:

“Once we officially change the name, guests and members will enjoy more perks and exciting adventures. These four Fortress properties add fresh flavour to the Nordic portfolio. This partnership will boost both parties.”

Historic charm meets modern muscle – a winning combo for Scandinavian travel fans!
