Off-Duty Cop Runs Into Blazing M20 Fire – Hailed a Hero
An off-duty police special constable has been slammed a “true hero” after rushing to the scene of a fiery crash on the M20 last Friday.
Special Constable Michael Saves The Day
Michael, a Met inspector and special constable, acted swiftly as flames engulfed a crane lorry near Junction 1 for the M25. He guided motorists to safety and wasted no time alerting emergency services.
The Met Police praised Michael on their Facebook page, highlighting how he kept everyone calm with regular updates and worked closely with Kent Fire and Rescue the moment they arrived.
Fast Response Prevents Tragedy
Three fire engines from Kent Fire and Rescue tackled the blaze head-on, using breathing apparatus to control the inferno. Thanks to their rapid response and Michael’s quick thinking, the fire was extinguished with no injuries reported.
Traffic was stopped both ways for around half an hour, causing delays for drivers on the busy stretch between the M25 and A20.
Community Cheers Hero Cop
Since 2011, Michael has volunteered with the Met’s Special Constabulary and also works as a specialist paramedic. The community flooded social media with praise after hearing about his valiant actions.
“A true hero,” said Facebook user Andreea Ungureanu.
“Incredible actions,” added Lisa Ditch.
Michael’s bravery a reminder of the difference one calm, quick-thinking officer can make in a moment of crisis.
