Teenager dies in tragic crash between Volkswagen and motorbike
Police rushed to the scene at 6.09pm after a collision involving a blue Volkswagen Caddy and a black Yamaha motorcycle. The motorcyclist, a 17-year-old boy, was rushed to Southampton General Hospital but sadly later died.
Family devastated, driver unharmed
Specialist officers are supporting the grieving family following the fatal crash. The Volkswagen driver, a woman in her 50s, escaped without injury.
Road closed for hours, now reopened
Emergency services shut the road near the junction of Botley Road and Chapel Lane for around five hours while they dealt with the incident. The road has now fully reopened.
Police appeal for witnesses and footage
Officers want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time or has dash cam footage of the crash or its buildup. They’re especially keen to speak to residents between Bishop’s Waltham and the collision site with any CCTV or doorbell camera footage of the young rider.
