Christmas Train Chaos! No trains in or out of London Liverpool Street from December 25 to January 2, warns Network Rail. Passengers must plan ahead or face major disruption this festive season.
Frozen Tracks at Liverpool Street
From Christmas Day through to January 2, Liverpool Street station is a no-go zone. That means no Greater Anglia, Stansted Express, or Cambridge trains starting or ending there. Travelers best find alternative routes pronto.
Key Routes Hit Hard
- London Euston: Long-distance trains to Manchester Piccadilly, Birmingham New Street, Liverpool Lime Street, Blackpool North, Scotland, and Glasgow are running reduced services from December 24-30.
- London Victoria: No Southern or Gatwick Express trains from December 25 to January 2.
- Cannon Street: Station closed on December 24. Some trains will start or finish at London Bridge instead.
- Lewisham Station: Closed on Christmas Eve with no trains between New Cross, St Johns, and Dartford via Bexleyheath.
Network Rail Urges Planning
Despite 95% of the network staying open, these crucial holiday disruptions will hit many commuters and festive travellers hard. Network Rail says most engineering happens when trains don’t run — overnight or on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
And brace yourself — rail strikes could slam services in the lead-up to Christmas, with unions hinting at fresh walkouts.
Plan your journeys well in advance to avoid a Christmas travel nightmare.
