Massive Christmas Travel Chaos Hits London Stations!

London Liverpool Street Station Shuts Down for a Week

Brace yourselves! No trains will run into or out of London Liverpool Street from Christmas Day (25 December) all the way through to 2 January, according to Network Rail. This shutdown affects Greater Anglia, Stansted Express, and Cambridge trains.

Reduced Timetables and Station Closures Across London

  • Long-distance trains from London Euston to Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Blackpool, Scotland, and Glasgow will operate on a reduced schedule from 24 to 30 December.
  • No Southern or Gatwick Express trains will run to or from London Victoria from 25 December to 2 January.
  • Cannon Street station will be closed on 24 December, with some services rerouted to London Bridge.
  • Lewisham station will shut on Christmas Eve, and no trains will run between New Cross, St Johns, and Dartford via Bexleyheath.

Strikes Could Make Festive Travel Even Worse

Union chiefs have warned of more strikes during the run-up to Christmas, threatening further disruption to rail services. Network Rail insists most engineering works are scheduled for quiet times like Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and overnight shifts. Still, key routes will be hit hard.

Plan Ahead or Face Disaster

Passengers are urged to plan journeys well in advance. While 95% of the network will be open, vital routes around London will face severe restrictions. Don’t get caught out this festive season – check your route before you travel!
