Kent Border Chaos Warning: No Turn-Up-and-Go Tickets for Eurotunnel and Ferries
Kent Resilience Forum (KRF) is sounding the alarm! Eurotunnel and Dover ferry crossings for Friday to Sunday, 27-29 May, are slammed with bookings. That means no turn-up-and-go tickets available. If you’re planning to cross, book now or risk being turned back at the border.
Footie Fans Sorted but Rest of Kent Faces Delays
Liverpool Football Club has teamed up with travel operators and KRF to ensure its fans heading to the UEFA Champions League final in Paris next Saturday already have their ferry or shuttle tickets sorted. But the rest of Kent isn’t so lucky.
Kent’s a popular spot – with stunning beaches, rich history, and top-notch shopping – but its roads are clogged with locals, tourists, and freight traffic. And the situation’s worsened by reduced P&O ferry services at Dover.
Operation Brock and Traffic Controls Cranking up the Chaos
Since April, Operation Brock has been managing lorry traffic on the M20 due to the limited ferry capacity. HGV drivers heading to Europe might also face restrictions at Brenley Corner (Junction 7 on the M2 at Faversham), forced to rejoin Brock’s queue system.
For drivers in Kent, it’s critical to check your route before you travel, leave plenty of time, and pack essentials like food, drinks, and medication in case you get stuck in delays.
