Rock Throwers Target M25 Motorists in Essex – Police Launch Hunt
Essex police are on the case after objects were hurled from a bridge onto vehicles cruising the busy M25.
Multiple Reports of Stones Striking Cars
Between 11.15pm on Monday, 17 August, and 9.55pm on Tuesday, 18 August, officers logged five separate incidents of stones hitting vehicles. All attacks happened between junctions 27 and 28, with most of the rocks believed to have been thrown from a bridge during a half-hour window on Tuesday evening.
Two heavy goods vehicles were among the targets, with drivers reporting windscreen damage but thankfully no injuries.
Teens Suspected, Police Issue Warning to Parents
Police say a group of young teens were spotted loitering near the bridge around the time of the incidents. Essex Chief Inspector Darren Deex issued a stark warning:
“These reckless acts put motorists in serious danger. If you’re a parent or guardian, now’s the time to talk to your kids about the consequences. Do you know what they or their friends are up to?”
He urged anyone with information to come forward and help catch those responsible.
