Thugs Blitz Southampton Co-op with Sledgehammer

Police are hunting three brazen burglars who tried to smash into a Southampton Co-op in the dead of night.

The attempted break-in happened at the Bassett Green Road store between 12.25am and 1.15am on July 6. The trio targeted the store’s back entrance, wielding a sledgehammer to force their way in.

Their brutal efforts failed, and the suspects fled before making off with any loot.

Descriptions of the suspects

  • One man wore black trousers, a dark padded coat, a black hat, black trainers with white toe caps, and a light-coloured scarf masking his face.
  • A second suspect sported a dark coat with the hood up, black padded gloves, and grey combat-style trousers.
