Man in 20s Found Burning to Death in Chessington – Met Police Launch Probe
Tragic Discovery on Barwell Lane
Emergency services were scrambled to Bribleway Path on Barwell Lane, Chessington, in the early hours of Thursday morning after reports a man was found on fire. Police, firefighters, and paramedics raced to the scene around 1am following frantic calls.
Missing Person Found Dead
Sources reveal the man, believed to be in his early 20s, had been reported missing prior to the incident. Officers had been searching for him before the heartbreaking discovery. Despite desperate attempts to save him, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation Underway – No Suspicious Circumstances
The Met Police have launched a full investigation but say the death is currently not being treated as suspicious. It’s unclear whether the man acted alone or if others were involved. A police spokesperson confirmed:
“Police were called at 11:11pm on Wednesday, 7 December following concerns for the welfare of a man reported missing from Chessington. At around 01:00hrs emergency services attended Barwell Lane. The man, aged in his early 20s, was found deceased. His next of kin have been informed. At this time the death is not being treated as suspicious. A file will be prepared for the Coroner. A scene was in place and has since been closed.”
