Posh Travellers Flee British Cold: ‘We’re Off!’
A swanky group of travellers has parked up in Cosham — but say Britain’s chilly weather has sped up their exit plans. The luxury caravan convoy, boasting 18 caravans and 20 cars, including a Bentley and Mercedes, rolled into the Lynx House car park just after 8pm on 29 November.
Police and Council Brace for Eviction Drama
Officers swooped on the scene at Northern Road, teaming up with portsmouth/" title="Portsmouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Portsmouth City Council to serve an eviction notice. But the travellers claim they’re already packing up to leave on Friday — no eviction needed.
A Portsmouth City Council spokesperson said: “We are following legal steps to deal with incursions on Council land and to ensure the caravans and vehicles leave the Spectrum site.
“We are working closely with the police’s Safer Neighbourhood team. The occupants have been given bin bags, and there are regular rubbish removals and patrols, including at weekends.”
Travellers Head Back to Avoid the British Winter
On top of official pressure, the travellers say the biting British cold is driving them back to warmer climes in Sweden and France. “We are off tomorrow,” they told police, keen to escape the damp UK winter.
