Massive Blaze Erupts on Northfleet High Street – Residents Urged to Stay Indoors
A huge fire tore through a derelict building on Northfleet High Street this afternoon, forcing firefighters to battle the inferno for nearly seven hours. The blaze first broke out around 3.10pm on December 8, sending plumes of smoke over the residential area.
Firefighters Fighting the Flames With Full Force
Kent Fire and Rescue deployed ten fire engines, a height vehicle, and a bulk water carrier to tackle the massive fire. Teams wearing breathing apparatus battled the flames using hose reel jets, working tirelessly to bring the situation under control.
Residents Warned to Keep Doors and Windows Shut
Authorities urged locals to keep all windows and doors closed due to thick smoke blanketing the neighbourhood. Road closures near the junction of Factory Road are in place, and the public is advised to avoid the area while firefighters continue operations.
A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “Ten fire engines, a bulk water carrier and a height vehicle remain at the scene of a fire involving a derelict building in High Street, Northfleet. People are being asked to avoid the area near the junction of Factory Road due to road closures… Residents are also advised to close windows and doors as a precaution due to smoke.”
Good News – No Injuries Reported So Far
Despite the scale of the blaze and the lengthy battle to contain it, no injuries have been reported at the scene. Fire crews remain on high alert as they work to fully extinguish the fire and ensure public safety.
