Kickstarter Scheme Opens Doors for All UK Employers
Big news for young jobseekers! Work and Pensions Secretary Therese Coffey has scrapped the 30-job minimum rule for the Kickstarter Scheme from February 3rd. Now, businesses of any size can offer paid placements to local youth.
Gosport MP Backs the Move
Local MP Caroline Dinenage is urging companies across Gosport, Hill Head, Stubbington, and Lee-on-the-Solent to jump on board. She says the scheme is a vital stepping stone for young people struggling to find work.
“The pandemic has made taking that first step on the job ladder harder than ever, especially for our young residents.
“The Kickstarter Scheme not only helps employers get fully funded support but also offers placements to help young people build skills and boost their CVs.
“I encourage all local employers to sign up and give a young person in the Gosport Constituency a chance to kickstart their career this year.”
What’s In It for Employers?
- Funding for 25 hours a week for 6 months.
- Wages paid at National Minimum or Living Wage depending on age.
- Employer National Insurance contributions covered.
- Over 120,000 jobs already created nationwide.
- A hefty £2 billion pot still available.
Secretary of State Urges Action
Thérèse Coffey said:
“Kickstart has moved up a gear and I encourage employers to invest in the next generation of talent by joining the scheme.
“By removing the threshold of a minimum 30 jobs, we are making it even simpler to get involved.
“Now is the time to prepare for post-lockdown placements. Employers can apply directly or through one of our 600 Kickstart gateways, providing tailored local or sector-specific support.”
This shake-up could be the boost thousands of young Brits need to launch their careers after lockdown.
