Blaze Blamed on Incense: Six Fire Engines Tackle Tottenham House Fire
Yesterday evening, a raging fire tore through a two-storey terrace on Arnold Road, Tottenham. Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters rushed to the scene after seven 999 calls flooded in.
Loft and First Floor Damaged, No Injuries
The blaze damaged part of the first floor and loft of the property, but thankfully, no one was hurt. Firefighters quenched the flames within an hour, from 5:28 p.m. to 6:37 p.m.
Incense Left Burning: A Common Fire Risk
The London Fire Brigade suspect the fire was sparked by the improper use of incense sticks. A spokesperson warned:
“Candles, incense sticks, and oil burners are one of the most common causes of fire. It is critical that you never leave these items unattended and keep them away from anything easily flammable.”
“Always place them in a heat-resistant holder on a stable surface to prevent tipping.”
Crews from Tottenham, Walthamstow, Holloway, and nearby stations worked together to bring the blaze under control. This serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking in everyday home rituals.
