A 16-year-old boy tragically died after being found unresponsive at Feltham Prison and Young Offender Institution in west London.

Emergency Response in the Dead of Night

Police were alerted shortly after midnight on Tuesday, 21 April, following an emergency call from Feltham staff. The boy had been treated earlier by the London Ambulance Service at around 9:30pm on Monday before being rushed to the hospital. He was declared dead at 11:43pm.

Investigation Underway as Authorities Express Condolences

Scotland Yard confirmed the death is being treated as unexpected, with inquiries ongoing and a post-mortem scheduled. A Youth Custody Service spokesman said they were “saddened to hear of the death of a child” and extended their condolences to the family and friends. They added that the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman would carry out an independent investigation, stressing that further comment was “inappropriate at this stage.”
