Flats Go Up in Flames
Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters rushed to tackle a fire on Sunday, 22 May 2022. The blaze broke out on the first floor of a mid-terraced house converted into flats.
Trapped Occupants Saved by Quick-Thinking Crew
A small section of the five-room flat was damaged by fire. The occupants couldn’t leave and were stuck inside. A 999 call handler stayed on the line, giving crucial fire safety advice and guiding the firefighters to their exact location.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus led a woman and a baby to safety. Both were treated on the scene by London Ambulance Crews for smoke inhalation.
Fire Survival Tips Saved Lives
Fire survival advice included moving to a room with less smoke, sealing doors with towels or blankets, and opening a window if safe. This guidance helped the trapped residents stay safe until rescue.
Swift Response and Suspected Cause
- The Brigade was called at 12:32pm and had the fire under control by 1:12pm.
- Teams from Park Royal, North Kensington, and Hendon stations tackled the blaze.
- The suspected cause? An unattended incense stick left burning.
