Ram Raiders Smash Into Southampton HSBC and Escape With Cash
Three masked raiders launched a dramatic ram raid on the HSBC bank in Southampton this morning, smashing a stolen car straight into the storefront before making off with cash. Police quickly cordoned off the scene on Cedar Close, with officers guarding the area as enquiries continue.
Shocking Smash-and-Grab in Broad Daylight
Witnesses at a nearby furniture shop on Lower Northam Road reported seeing a dark grey Vauxhall Astra plough into the bank shortly after 10.30am. Three masked men jumped out, stormed inside, grabbed cash from behind the tills, and fled within minutes. A shaken staff member alerted the police immediately.
High-Speed Getaway in White Audi A3
The raiders made their escape in a white Audi A3 with a ’15 plate’, speeding off towards the Botley area of Hampshire. The abandoned Vauxhall Astra – suspected stolen – remains seized by police. Officers and CID specialists have been combing the crime scene, while a manhunt is underway for the trio.
Injured Staff and Urgent Appeal for Witnesses
One staff member, a 31-year-old woman, suffered minor bruising after one of the raiders grabbed her wrist during the raid. She is recovering but understandably shaken by the ordeal.
