Just Eat Driver Goes Viral Throwing Food to Stranded Thameslink Passengers
A Just Eat delivery driver has become an internet sensation after being caught on camera chucking food packages onto a stranded Thameslink train stuck during South London’s scorching heatwave on Saturday, 21 June.
Driver Launches Food from Trackside in Sweltering Chaos
The viral clip shows the driver standing at track level, hurling food bundles through open train doors on a raised railway section. Passengers inside the train caught the deliveries to cheers and applause.
The bizarre scene unfolded amid widespread disruption caused by a power failure near Loughborough Junction, which left multiple trains stranded without air conditioning in the blistering 33°C heat.
Massive Service Meltdown Leaves Thousands Stuck
The service collapse hit the London Blackfriars to Herne Hill route hard, stranding around 1,800 passengers. Emergency services including British Transport Police and London Fire Brigade were called in to help evacuate the overwhelmed travellers.
“Earlier today, a fault on a train near Loughborough Junction brought all services to a halt in the area, three of them outside station platforms,” said a spokesperson for Govia Thameslink Railway. “This would have been a difficult and uncomfortable experience for our passengers and we are truly sorry.”
More than 25 firefighters assisted passengers forced to walk along tracks in the scorching heat.
Social Media Praises ‘Delivery Dedication’ Amid Mayhem
The Just Eat driver’s quick thinking and accuracy won praise online, with fans dubbing it “a masterclass in customer service” and “delivery dedication to a new level.”
However, some questioned how orders were even placed or completed during such chaos. One user joked, “How was the location pin even set?”
Ongoing Rail Delays and Investigation
The lighthearted delivery moment was a rare bright spot during major delays across the network on Saturday afternoon. Network Rail has launched investigations into the cause of the electrical failure.
Just Eat has been contacted for comment on the viral video and the actions of the delivery driver.
