Brace for a chill! The Met Office warns of colder weather hitting the UK this week, driven by high pressure settling in from the north west.
Dry but Dreary
While some rain showers may pop up, expect mostly dry and cloudy skies across the country. The key weather player is a “blocking high” pressure system lingering over the north west, keeping heavy rain at bay.
Snow Alert This Weekend?
Snow could make a surprise visit this weekend, depending on how that high pressure moves. It’s too soon to say if London will catch any flakes, though.
London’s Weekend Forecast
Temperatures in the capital will hover in the mid to high single figures. A cool easterly breeze will make it feel even colder as the weekend rolls into early next week.
The setup is something called a blocking high where high pressure stays fairly consistent to the north west of the UK from Saturday onwards into early next week and what that does is reduce the chances of significant rainfall of any kind and it’s cloudy and dry out for the majority of the country,” a Met Office spokesperson explained.
“For London specifically, there is a chance early next week of some showers gradually moving in off the eastern coastal areas. We might see some sporadic showers on Saturday afternoon and indeed on Sunday.
“On Sunday, there’s just a chance that some of those showers moving into the south east of the country will be sleety in nature due to how cold the air will be, but it will be fairly light and it won’t accumulate to any kind of effect.”
