Call the Midwife Shocker: Sister Hilda Returns in Season 14 Finale!

Stephen McGann, aka Dr Patrick Turner, has just dropped a bombshell about the Call the Midwife season 14 finale. Fans can expect a thrilling surprise as a much-loved character makes a comeback to Poplar this weekend!

Sister Hilda is Back! pOn This Morning, McGann teased the big return:

“There are things that happen, which we’re not telling you,”

he said before revealing that Fenella Woolgar’s Sister Hilda will be popping back on screen.

“One of the old sisters, Sister Hilda, played by the brilliant Fenella Woolgar, comes back into the series, so you will see her again. There’s a sense of things being rounded up beautifully, but there’s also, as you know with Call the Midwife, there’s drama there, too. There’s heartache, as well.”

Megan Cusack Waves Goodbye as Nancy Corrigan

Season 14’s finale is also the curtain call for Megan Cusack, who has played Nancy Corrigan for four years. Nancy, missing from much of this series, will tie the knot with Roger Noble (Conor O’Donnell) in a heartwarming exit.

The couple first hinted at their fresh start in the 2024 Christmas special, when they moved to Surrey.

A Rain-Soaked Wedding Inspired by Real Life

McGann spilled more secrets about a touching wedding scene in the finale. His wife, Heidi Thomas, who created the show, drew inspiration from their son’s own rainy wedding day.

“There’s a sequence on the big day which involves rain pouring down. My son was married last year, and when we were arriving, it was absolutely in torrents of rain. I think Heidi drew a little inspiration from that.”

What Fans Can Expect

While McGann kept other plot points under wraps, he promised a final episode packed with:

  • Joy
  • Heartbreak
  • Surprises
  • All the drama Call the Midwife is known for

Don’t miss the season 14 finale, airing Sunday, March 2 at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. It’s set to be a tearjerker and a triumph!
