Kent Council hikes host payments amid soaring living costs

Kent hosts to get a cash boost

The Government sticks with £350 per accommodation for hosts, but Kent County Council (KCC) isn’t having it. They’ve decided to up the payment to recognise the kindness of Kent hosts and the financial squeeze they’re under. Energy bills, food prices, and inflation are biting hard.

Winter worries prompt a pay rise

KCC’s move comes as fears grow that many hosts won’t afford to extend their six-month agreements with winter looming. The increased payments kick in at the end of October and run until the Government’s scheme wraps up in March 2023.

Who gets the extra cash?

  • Existing hosts already receiving thank you payments
  • New hosts who pass all the necessary checks

Extra help available

For those struggling even with the increase, a separate hardship fund is on hand for more financial support. Hosts can call 03000 412424 for help or visit the Kent County Council website for details.
