Humza Yousaf’s In-Laws Escape Gaza Hell
Scotland’s First Minister Humza Yousaf revealed a personal win today as his wife Nadia’s parents, Elizabeth and Maged El-Nakla, finally fled war-torn Gaza. The couple were trapped for weeks before managing to cross the Rafah border.
Grateful but Heartbroken
In a joint statement, Humza and Nadia thanked those who helped, especially the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office’s crisis team. Despite relief over their family’s safety, the pair voiced deep sorrow for Gaza’s ongoing misery.
“We are very pleased to confirm that Nadia’s parents were able to leave Gaza through the Rafah crossing this morning,” said Yousaf.
“These last four weeks have been a living nightmare for our family. We’re so grateful for the messages of comfort and prayers from around the globe and across all UK political lines.”
Calls for Ceasefire and Aid
Humza Yousaf urged an immediate stop to the violence in Gaza. He repeated calls for a ceasefire, a humanitarian corridor to deliver vital aid and fuel, and the release of all hostages.
“Although we feel a sense of deep personal relief, we are heartbroken at the continued suffering of the people of Gaza,” he said.
“Families in Gaza and Israel are devastated, losing innocent men, women and children. The collective punishment has gone on for far too long.”
