Ben Snuggs Steps Up as Thames Valley’s New Deputy Chief Constable
Jason Hogg’s promotion to Chief Constable has paved the way for Ben Snuggs to take the reins as Deputy Chief Constable at Thames Valley Police.
Snuggs, formerly Deputy Chief Constable for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, officially started last week after his January appointment.
“I am really thrilled to be joining Thames Valley Police as Deputy Chief Constable,” said Snuggs.
“This is a great force with a diligent and professional workforce committed to serving communities across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Oxfordshire.
I joined policing over 26 years ago and remain as focused as ever on making our service better by being agile and effective in all that we do.”
Familiar Face with a Clear Mission
Having previously served as Assistant Chief Constable for Joint Operations for both Thames Valley Police and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, Snuggs is no stranger to the force.
His priority is straightforward – keep Thames Valley’s communities safe by preventing crime, supporting victims, and bringing offenders to justice.
“As Deputy Chief Constable, my focus is clear: support our new Chief Constable’s vision, deliver excellent performance, and make our communities proud,” he said.
This means a strong emphasis on neighbourhood policing, top-quality investigations, and swift responses.
“We’ll also deliver our Police and Crime Commissioner’s Police and Criminal Justice Plan while maintaining vital community trust and confidence.”
Shakes Up at the Top
Thames Valley Police isn’t stopping with new chief and deputy chief constables. There are fresh changes across the senior management team.
- Rob France, previously Assistant Chief Constable for Crime, Criminal Justice, Intelligence and Tasking and Development at 1, now oversees Joint Operations.
- Dennis Murray steps into a new Assistant Chief Constable role focused on legitimacy and delivering value to the community.
- Katy Barrow-Grint moves up as Temporary Assistant Chief Constable for Crime and Criminal Justice, taking over Murray’s former role.
With these changes, Thames Valley Police is gearing up to boost effectiveness and community trust across the region.
