Woman Raped in Didcot Park – Police Hunt Attacker

Thames Valley Police are on the case after a woman was raped in Edmonds Park, Didcot, yesterday evening.

Victim Attacked Near Outdoor Gym

At about 6.45pm on 11th October, a woman in her thirties was walking near the outdoor gym equipment when she was suddenly tripped from behind. She fell to the ground and was brutally raped by a man who then fled towards Park Road.

Within 15 minutes, members of the public found the distressed woman near Newlands Avenue and alerted the police.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Detective Superintendent Paul Hayles, Head of Force CID, urged anyone who saw anything suspicious in Edmonds Park to come forward. “Even if details seem insignificant, they could be vital to our investigation,” he said.

Police are currently supporting the victim and trying to gather a description of the attacker.

No Link to Separate Oxford Attack

Reports on social media speculated this attack was connected to a recent abduction and rape of a teenage girl in Summertown, Oxford, on 28th September. However, detectives confirm there is no evidence to link the two incidents—they believe these are separate crimes.

Ch Insp Graham Wharton, Deputy Local Police Area Commander for South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse, reassured the community: “A dedicated team is working to catch the offender. Patrols continue, and anyone with concerns can speak to officers in the area.”
