RNLI and Coastguard Launch Search After Tent Vanishes on Tide
Cowes RNLI and the Coastguard scrambled last night after reports that a tent had floated away on the River Medina.
Alarm Raised Over Missing Tent at Island Harbour
At 10:50pm on Thursday, the UK Coastguard called out Cowes’ Atlantic 85 lifeboat. The alert came after a tent, pitched on the foreshore at Island Harbour, vanished as the tide came in.
Search Launched But No Sign of Tent or People
Fearing someone could be stranded or in trouble, crews conducted an urgent shoreline sweep along the River Medina. Despite the thorough search by RNLI and Coastguard Rescue Team, no tent or persons were found. Both teams were stood down shortly after.
