Burglar Caught Live on Victim’s Phone During Maidstone Break-In
Thief Broadcasts His Crime Without Knowing
Jordan Boguslawski had no idea he was being watched when he broke into a home near Maidstone. Live video and audio of the burglary were streamed straight to the victim’s phone. The clip captured the chilling sound of a kitchen window smashing as Boguslawski forced his way inside. The victim, away from home, received the alert from her security system on 19 September 2019, watching in real time as the 39-year-old burglar ripped a camera off the wall and rifled through the property.
Stolen Loot Found in Boguslawski’s Car
Boguslawski, from Ilford, Essex, made off with a safe, passports, electronics, jewellery, and over £2,500 in cash. But Kent Police quickly zeroed in on a suspicious hire car seen in the area. The vehicle was linked to Boguslawski and stopped in Surrey two days later. Inside, officers found stolen goods from the Maidstone break-in plus items from another burglary the same day in Hemel Hempstead. Clothing matching CCTV images sealed the case.
Prolific Burglar Sentenced to Nearly Four Years
Facing multiple charges, Boguslawski pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary at Maidstone Crown Court. He was also convicted of four other burglaries across Surrey and nearby areas. On 6 March 2020, he was sentenced to three years and 11 months behind bars.
Police Urge Public to Stay Vigilant
“Boguslawski is a prolific thief, who no doubt would have continued to cause misery to further victims had he not been caught,” said Detective Constable Kate Humpheryes of West Kent CID. “Security cameras were vital in bringing him to justice quickly. We urge residents and business owners to stay vigilant – always double lock doors and windows. Maintain your CCTV to capture clear images and help catch criminals.”
