East Sussex Nail Bar Raided Over Suspected Modern Slavery

Police swooped on a nail bar and nearby flat in Uckfield, East Sussex, targeting suspected modern slavery. Officers from East Sussex Project Discovery carried out a warrant on Thursday, 3 September, seizing documents and £4,000 cash in the raid.

31-Year-Old Woman Arrested

A 31-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of forcing others into labour, breaking Section 1 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. She was later released on police bail until 23 September while investigations continue. No other arrests have been made.

We are working with our partners in Discovery to expose hidden crime and safeguard some of the most vulnerable people within our communities.”
