Boiler Scam! Elderly Woman’s Jewellery Stolen in Brazen Washington Break-In
At around 9am on September 25, an elderly woman on Glendale Avenue, Washington, got an unexpected knock at her door. A man claiming to be from the council said he was there to check her boiler – then waltzed inside.
Thief Targets Upstairs, Makes Off with Precious Jewellery
The fraudster headed upstairs and pinched a stash of jewellery. The victim only realised her precious items were gone after he left. She didn’t get a proper look at him as he wore a blue face mask and a dark woolly hat, but police hope locals spotted someone matching the description or experienced similar visits.
Suspect Description Released: Tall, Bearded, Wearing Blue Gloves

- Age: About 40s
- Features: Possible dark beard, broad shoulders
- Clothing: Blue gloves, dark woollen hat, face mask
