Three Burglars Jailed After Bedfordshire Break-In Spree

Three burglars have been locked up after a series of break-ins across Bedfordshire, thanks to sharp detective work and forensic clues.

Dog Recognises Burglar on Doorbell Cam

Miles Connors, 34, pleaded guilty at Luton Crown Court on 24 April to breaking into a Luton home on Lilac Grove back in February 2020. The no fixed abode crook forced his way through the back door and made off with cash and precious jewellery.

Footage from the victim’s video doorbell nailed Connors instantly. Detective Constable Jason Wheeler from Bedfordshire Police’s burglary taskforce, Operation Maze, spotted Connors on camera and knew exactly who he was. The result? Connors was sentenced to three years behind bars.

“Connors is a previous offender who I recognised from footage captured by the victim’s security camera,” said DC Wheeler. “This shows how crucial home security is for catching and deterring criminals. I hope this sentence makes him think twice and get the support he needs to stop offending.”

Forensics Snare Two More Burglaries

Two more burglars, Ahsan Naseer, 53, and Hamza Sarwar, 33, were also caught and jailed after breaking into a Luton home on Neville Road in March 2021. Forensic evidence sealed their fate — their fingerprints were found on the forced back door, and Naseer’s blood was spotted on the upstairs banister.

Sentenced at Luton Crown Court on 13 May, the pair each got 16 months behind bars. The cruel duo were disturbed by their elderly victim who called out in fear, forcing them to flee empty-handed.

DC Andy Boston said: “They left DNA all over the house which linked them to the crime. Burglary is deeply traumatic, and I’m pleased we’ve brought these offenders to justice.”
