Party of 100 Crashes Kent’s Covid Rules

Kent Police were called at 4.25am on Sunday, 30 May 2021, to a chaotic scene in Plantation Lane, Bearsted. Locals reported loud noise and a street fight. But what they stumbled on was a massive bash – over 100 revellers packed into a property advertised as a quiet holiday rental.

Booking Blunder: Milton Keynes Woman Fined

Investigations revealed the party was booked by a 20-year-old woman from Milton Keynes. Thames Valley Police visited her home on 25 June and slapped her with a fixed penalty notice for breaking Covid rules. The law clearly bans gatherings of more than 30 people in private homes.

Top Cop Warns: Rules Still Apply

Assistant Chief Constable Nicola Faulconbridge said: “The majority of people in Kent have been making sacrifices to follow the Government’s roadmap and keep everyone safe. It is encouraging hospital admissions remain fairly low as a result. But we must all remain mindful we are still in a pandemic.”

“It remains illegal to organise or attend large indoor parties and unlicensed music events. Our officers will act swiftly, issuing fixed penalties where necessary.”

“With restrictions easing, nicer weather, and big sporting events, people want to socialise. But everyone must remember the serious risks the virus still poses and not undo our progress. Ahead of July’s next easing, officers will continue working with partners to enforce the rules, staying visible and sensible — but ready to act.”
