At Norwich Crown Court, Two Men Were Sentenced For Fraud Offences

Officers from Norfolk Police’s Operation Moonshot team stopped a Saab motor vehicle on Hall Quay in Great Yarmouth on March 15, 2022. Inside the vehicle were unopened letters from various addresses in Hemsby and Martham, as well as credit cards in a variety of names.

Officers apprehended both occupants, and further investigation revealed that the letters had recently been stolen from several addresses in Norfolk. During the investigation, police discovered that the suspects had committed crimes all over the United Kingdom.

Selvis Sali, 48, and Elvis Mustafa, 39, both of no fixed address, were charged with conspiracy to commit fraud and remanded in custody. They both pleaded guilty to the charges on May 11.

On Friday, June 17, 2022, at Norwich Crown Court, Selvis Sali was sentenced to 21 months in prison and Elvis Mustafa was sentenced to 18 months, with the judge recommending deportation upon completion of their sentences.

Sgt Tungatt of the Norfolk Police Department’s Operation Moonshot East stated,

This case demonstrates that the Norfolk Police Department will not tolerate such invasive crime.” Sali and Mustafa had devised a meticulously planned operation that they believed was foolproof.

Following an extensive investigation, we were able to identify critical evidence that linked the crime series, resulting in both defendants entering guilty pleas and a favourable outcome for the victims.
