A Young Girl Was Allegedly "dropped On Her Head" Onto A Concrete Playground At A Hull School, Resulting In A Terrifying Brain Injury

Neeka Atkinson’s family claims she was approached on the playground at Archbishop Sentamu Academy on Friday, July 8. They claim the boy grabbed her by the neck and threw her head first to the ground.

Alisha Atkinson, Neeka’s sister, stated: “According to what we know, he picked her up by the neck and slammed her head first into the concrete before walking away laughing and saying, ‘it’s funny she deserves it.’ Neeka went to student services, crying and in pain.

She began fitting soon after and was rushed to the hospital. Alisha stated: “She started fitting, her eyes were rolling, and she was sick.

“Neeka was rushed to the hospital, where she was immediately put into a coma and a CT scan was performed. They discovered she had a large blood clot on her brain as well as a bleed on the brain; she was rushed to surgery and remained there for four hours.

They don’t have the resources to keep her at Hull Royal, so she’ll be transferred to either Leeds or Sheffield. They claim that any additional hospitals she is sent to will be too far away and she will not survive.”

Neeka is awake in the hospital at the moment, but she can only use the right side of her face and is struggling to speak. She broke down and asked her grandmother if she was “dead” because she couldn’t use her body anymore.

Following the incident, the school issued a statement. Helen Winn, who began her new role as Executive Principal on Monday, stated: “Following an incident last week, we are all very concerned about our 13-year-old student. During this difficult time, our thoughts are with her, her family, and her friends.

We are extremely grateful for the outstanding work of our healthcare professionals, who we know are doing everything possible to help her. We are unable to comment further at this time due to the police involvement in the case.”

The incident is being investigated by Humberside Police. According to a police spokesperson: “An investigation is underway after a 13-year-old girl was seriously injured in an incident at a Hull school on Friday, July 8. We were notified shortly after 4 p.m. that the girl had been taken to the hospital for treatment after an incident earlier that day.

“Investigations are being conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. A teenage boy was interviewed as part of the investigation to determine the circumstances. The girl is still in a stable condition in the hospital.”

Neeka’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to pay for Neeka’s nan’s accommodation and travel to Sheffield once she is flown there. Any extra funds will be used for Neeka’s rehabilitation and any equipment she may require.
