Fire Breaks Out on Plane Engine at Heathrow
Firefighters were scrambled to London Heathrow Airport on Sunday afternoon after a blaze erupted on the engine of an A320 aircraft on the ground.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
The alarm was raised around 2pm when ground staff spotted the fire. Fire crews from Heathrow’s onsite fire service and the London Fire Brigade (LFB) quickly arrived at the Western Perimeter Road to tackle the flames.
Swift Action Prevents Spread
Multiple fire engines responded, using a large blanket of foam to extinguish the fire rapidly. Quick moves by crews prevented the blaze from spreading further across the plane or runway.
Flight Operations Not Affected
Officials say flights arriving or departing from Heathrow were not impacted.
It’s unclear if passengers were on board when the fire broke out or the current status of the aircraft. The LFB has been approached for updates.
