Shoreham Lifeboat Saves Two in One Dramatic Evening
Shoreham lifeboat crew had a frantic Monday night after being launched to rescue a kayaker overdue on his River Adur trip. The exhausted and cold kayaker was found near Emerald Quay. The lifeboat crew quickly brought him aboard and safely returned him to Shoreham Sailing Club, his starting point.
Second Callout: Woman Struggles in Water Near Brighton Pier
Moments later, the lifeboat rushed to aid a woman reported to have fallen off Brighton Palace Pier. On arrival, the crew discovered she’d already been rescued by a swimmer. The woman had been caught in a strong current while swimming, not fallen from the pier as originally feared.
Quick Action Saves the Day
The lifeboat crew searched the area and stood by before the coastguard stood them down. Thanks to their rapid response and the brave swimmer’s help, both the kayaker and the woman in distress made it home safe and sound.
