A daring two-year global crackdown, called Operation Narsil, has taken down criminal networks running child sexual abuse websites. Led by INTERPOL from December 2021 to July 2023, the operation targeted not just the sites but also the dirty money streams from online advertising campaigns.

The operation zeroed in on those running websites raking in cash from child abuse content through advertising revenue. Using INTERPOL’s notorious Worst of List (IWOL) — a watchlist of sites hosting extreme illegal material — law enforcement from 195 member countries worked together to expose suspects and coordinate arrests worldwide.
Thanks to INTERPOL’s massive global policing network, crooks hiding behind international borders were tracked down and hauled to justice.

“Every click on these images represents participation in a crime scene,” police warned.
INTERPOL chief Jürgen Stock sent a chilling message to the criminals: “We know where you are, what you are doing, and how to find you.” He underlined the commitment to hold offenders accountable in court, hitting back hard against vile profiteers.

The operation saw numerous arrests, including a brother and sister team in their early 30s in Argentina. Digital evidence and international intelligence linked the pair to running child abuse websites and associated advertising rackets for over a decade.
