Man Charged Over Dad’s Murder While Pushing Baby Buggy
A 34-year-old man has become the second person charged with the murder of young dad Jordan Davis, who was shot dead while pushing his four-month-old son’s buggy in Darndale.
Tragic Shooting Outside School
Jordan Davis, 22, from Darndale, was gunned down by a cyclist near Our Lady of Immaculate National School just before 4pm on 22 May 2019. The innocent father was pushing his baby’s pushchair when a gunman fired the fatal shots.
Second Suspect in Court
Robert Redmond, 34, of Streamville Road, Kilbarrack, Dublin 5, appeared before Judge Treasa Kelly at Dublin District Court charged with Mr Davis’s murder. When informed of the charge, Redmond reportedly replied, “Yeah, f**k off”.
Judge Kelly explained that the district court cannot handle bail for a murder case and remanded Redmond in custody. He has not yet entered a plea. His solicitor, Eoin Lysaght, confirmed the prosecution’s evidence is still being prepared and expected it won’t be ready for court until the new year.
First Conviction Brings Life Sentence
Redmond is the second man charged over the killing. In July, Wayne Cooney, 31, from Tallaght, was convicted by a jury at the Central Criminal Court of Mr Davis’s murder. Cooney received a mandatory life sentence and was also found guilty of illegally possessing a 9mm semi-automatic pistol and ammunition.
The tragic shooting shocked the Dublin community and raised urgent questions about gang violence and gun crime in the area.
