A Man Has Been Charged In Connection With A Disturbance In Canterbury

Kent Police was called to a car park near St George’s Place at 6.08pm on Thursday 28 September 2023 following a report of an altercation involving a group of people. Officers attended but the group had dispersed.

Emergency services were later called to an address in Ashford, where a man reported injuries believed to be linked to the earlier incident. He was taken to a London hospital, from where he has since been discharged.

An ongoing investigation by East Kent CID has led to six people being arrested on suspicion of violent disorder in relation to the disturbance.

Detectives have charged Erblin Haxhiaj with violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon, an axe.

The 30-year-old, of York Road, Ashford, is due to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 3 October.

Five others arrested in relation to the incident have been bailed pending further enquiries.
