Detectives Offer £20,000 Reward in Chilling Freezer Death Mystery
Detectives have ramped up their hunt for answers in the baffling case of a man found frozen inside an abandoned pub. The grim discovery was made over two years ago, but police say crucial details about the victim’s final years remain a mystery.
Body Found in Freezer of Disused Pub
On October 15, 2021, builders renovating the old Simpson’s Wine Bar on Romford Road, Forest Gate, stumbled upon the body of Roy Bigg hidden in a freezer. The Metropolitan Police immediately launched a full-scale inquiry to uncover how and why he ended up there.
£20,000 Reward to Identify Killer
Authorities are now offering a hefty £20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Roy’s murder. Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command is desperate for leads.
“Roy went missing in February 2012. We believe his body was kept in that freezer for years,” said DCI Allen. “He was around 70 when he died. We don’t know where he was between 2012 and 2021 — no confirmed sightings. We need the public’s help to fill in those gaps.”
Cause of Death Remains a Mystery
Despite a thorough post-mortem, police remain in the dark about how Roy died. His identity was confirmed through dental records, but investigators have yet to piece together the circumstances of his death.
DCI Allen appealed directly to anyone who might have seen or heard anything about Roy Bigg. “No detail is too small. Your tip could break this case wide open.”
