Shock in Sheffield: Elderly Woman Brutally Attacked During Park Litter Pick
An 80-year-old woman faced a nightmare attack while picking up litter in a Sheffield park. The violent assault has left the community stunned and justice swiftly served against the culprit, 23-year-old Saed Mohamed.
Brutal Attack Shakes Firth Park Community
In December 2022, Mohamed viciously punched and kicked the elderly victim, leaving her bruised and needing stitches for a facial cut. He dragged her into nearby bushes, tried to strip her clothing, and sexually assaulted her while she begged for mercy. The terrified woman suffered a serious brain injury from the ordeal.
Perpetrator Caught After Dropping Phone at Scene
Detectives tracked Mohamed down after finding his mobile phone near the crime scene. A search of his home led to his arrest. Mohamed pleaded guilty to Section 18 GBH and sexual assault charges.
Police Praise Victim’s Courage, Relief as Attacker Jailed
“This was a violent, prolonged and disturbing attack,” said Acting Detective Sergeant Megan Pryce. “The victim’s bravery and resilience have been remarkable.”
Detective Constable Arron Connolly added, “Her strength in the face of terror is incredible. We’re relieved Mohamed is now behind bars, unable to harm anyone else.”
The victim, deeply affected but supported by authorities, begins the difficult journey towards recovery after this horrific attack.
