Paedophile Teacher Jailed for Eight Years After Sickening ATC Abuse
Andrew Thompson, 32, from Great Sankey, has been locked up for eight years after admitting to a string of vile sex crimes against young boys. The verdict came down at Chester Crown Court on Monday, February 19, 2024.
33 Shocking Offences Revealed
Thompson pleaded guilty to a staggering 33 offences, including:
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13
- Nineteen counts of voyeurism
- Two counts of making indecent images
- Two counts of taking indecent images
- One count of possession of indecent images
Hidden Camera Uncovers Horrific Crimes
The sick case was exposed in July 2022 when a secret camera was found hidden in the toilets at an Air Training Corps (ATC) base. Thousands of images were discovered on the device, including footage of a man setting up the camera. Police identified the suspect as Andrew Thompson and arrested him on December 23, 2022.
Officers seized multiple electronics from Thompson. Forensic experts uncovered thousands of indecent images on them – some of which were taken at the school where Thompson worked and during trips with the ATC.
Victims Speak Out, Justice Served
Several boys who knew Thompson bravely came forward, telling police about the abuse. Their eyewitness accounts, combined with the overwhelming digital evidence, led to Thompson’s rearrest in September.
Faced with the mountain of proof, Thompson admitted all charges. Besides his eight-year prison sentence, he faces tough conditions when released, including a lifetime ban from working with children.
