US Govt Under Fire Over Prince Harry’s Visa Records

Pressure is mounting on the US government as campaigners demand transparency over Prince Harry’s visa status. The American ambassador to London has firmly ruled out the Duke of Sussex facing deportation while Joe Biden is in the White House.

Ambassador’s Stunning Statement Fuels FOI Battle

The conservative Heritage Foundation in Washington DC is leading the charge to expose Harry’s visa records under America’s Freedom of Information laws. They’ve spotlighted a remarkable comment by US Ambassador Jane Hartley in a recent Sky News interview.

“Well, it’s not going to happen in the Biden administration,” Hartley said flatly when asked if Harry could face deportation in the US. The Heritage Foundation called the statement “extraordinary”.

Transparency Fight Heats Up in Court

The Foundation argues that Hartley’s public guarantee clashes directly with the Department of Homeland Security’s refusal to release Harry’s immigration details. They say her words heighten the public interest in disclosing the information.

The Duke’s residency in America came under scrutiny after his memoir, Spare, revealed he used drugs including marijuana, cocaine, and psychedelic mushrooms – admissions that could complicate his visa and even risk deportation under US law.

Though the Biden administration cites privacy to keep Harry’s visa records under wraps, the Heritage Foundation insists the Ambassador’s comments prove there’s no valid reason to withhold them.

Judge’s Verdict Still Pending

Judge Carl Nichols, tasked with the case, has yet to issue a ruling. Meanwhile, Nile Gardiner, director of the Margaret Thatcher Centre for Freedom at the Heritage Foundation, slammed the administration’s secrecy, calling for full transparency and accountability.
