M2 in Kent Shut Eastbound After Crash

The M2 motorway in Kent is currently closed eastbound between Junction 2 (Rochester) and Junction 3 (Maidstone) following a collision. Emergency services, including Kent Police, are on the scene managing the situation.

Traffic Chaos: Diversion Route in Place

National Highways Traffic Officers are assisting with traffic control. Eastbound drivers are being diverted using the solid circle diversion symbol. Follow these steps to avoid the closure:

  1. Exit the M2 at Junction 1 and join the A289 heading eastbound.
  2. Stay on the A289, passing the Four Elms roundabout, Medway Tunnel, Lower Gillingham, Yokosuka Way, and Ito Way until you reach the A2 roundabout.
  3. Take the A2 eastbound to the A278 roundabout.
  4. Follow the A278 southbound to rejoin the M2 at Junction 4.

Plan Ahead or Expect Delays

Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time or consider alternative routes. If your journey involves this stretch of the M2, delay your trip or plan carefully to avoid getting stuck in the jam.
