Authorities have issued an urgent warning to the public following the escape of 30-year-old Abderrahmane Ariba from a mental health facility in Beckenham. Ariba was last seen during an escorted walk on Sunday, 21 July at approximately 9:30 AM. It is believed that he has since traveled through the Marble Arch area of Westminster and may now be in Croydon.
The Metropolitan Police have launched extensive inquiries to determine Ariba’s whereabouts and are urging the public not to approach him under any circumstances. Instead, they are encouraged to call 999 immediately upon sighting him.
Ariba is described as being 5ft 5ins tall, of large build, and was last seen wearing a blue polka dot T-shirt, black tracksuit trousers, and black trainers. The police have distributed images and are distributing additional information through leaflets in an attempt to assist in his safe capture.
Given the potential risk, police have increased their presence in the areas Ariba is believed to have traveled through. They are particularly keen to gather information from anyone who was in these areas since the time of his escape.
Residents and visitors to these areas are advised to stay vigilant and report any relevant information that could assist in locating Ariba. This can be done anonymously via Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111 or directly to the police by calling 101 and quoting reference CAD 441/22Jul.
The situation is being closely monitored, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available. The priority remains the safety of the public and the safe apprehension of Abderrahmane Ariba.
