Car Blaze and Firefighting Drama on Eastern Way, Thamesmead
A terrifying crash on Eastern Way, Thamesmead, this afternoon ended with a car engulfed in flames and nearby vegetation scorched, sparking a major emergency response.
Flames Rip Through Car and Roadside
The London Fire Brigade rushed to the scene at 1:43 PM after a vehicle smashed into street furniture and instantly caught fire. The blaze quickly spread, igniting around 20 metres of grass and trees along the roadside.
Three fire engines and roughly 15 firefighters battled the inferno, managing to control it by 2:41 PM.

Road Closures and Travel Warnings
Authorities shut down a section of Eastern Way between A2041 Harrow Manor Way and Yarnton Way. Motorists were advised to avoid the area while emergency crews made the scene safe.
