A major fire has broken out on a Bournemouth clifftop this evening, with emergency services urging the public to avoid the area.
Firefighters from five different fire stations are currently tackling the blaze, which is believed to cover an area approximately 100 metres by 100 metres.
Crews were called at 8:39pm to reports of a fire on the undercliff near Bournemouth Pier.
As a result of the fire, East Overcliff Drive has been closed to traffic while operations continue to bring the situation under control.
The fire is visible from the beach, the clifftop, and as far away as Southbourne, drawing widespread public attention.
Emergency services remain at the scene late into the evening to prevent the fire from spreading further.
Members of the public are strongly advised to stay clear of the area to allow emergency services to work safely.
An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place once the blaze has been fully extinguished.
