Massive Blaze on Southampton Ship Sparks Huge Firefight

Ten fire engines have rushed to a massive fire onboard a ship docked in Southampton. The vessel, loaded with 7,000 tonnes of scrap metal, erupted into flames late Saturday night.

Firefighters Scramble to Southampton Dock

Crews scrambled just before 10pm to Dock Gate 20, where over 50 firefighters and officers battled the intense blaze. Fire teams came from St Mary’s, Gosport, Cosham, Eastleigh, Botley, and Southsea to tackle the ferocious fire.

Command Unit Joins Effort in Prolonged Fight

The Command and Control Unit was deployed to coordinate the response in what is expected to be a long and challenging operation.

Blaze Contained Overnight, No Injuries Reported

Hampshire Fire and Rescue confirmed overnight that crews have contained the blaze. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and the emergency response is now being scaled down.
