UPDATED:Ten fire appliances have been mobilised to a major fire onboard a ship in Southampton
Ten fire appliances have been mobilised to Southampton dock to tackle a blaze that has broken out onboard a vessel that is carrying 7000 tonnes of scrap metal that is well alight. Crews were mobilised just before 10pm on Saturday evening to Dock gate 20 over fifty firefighters and officers are in attendance at the incident. Fire crews from Redbridge, St Mary’s, Gosport, Cosham, Eastleigh, Botley and Southsea shave been sent to tackle the blaze that is going to be long a protractive incident. The command and control until has also been sent to support officers and firefighter in the incident ground. Hampshire Fire and Rescue have said that overnight that they have managed to contain the blaze and no one has been hurt and the incident is now being scaled down.
