Sidcup Man Jailed for Filming Himself Kicking Stranger’s Head in Brutal Attack

Vicious assault caught on camera

George Arnott, 20, from Sidcup, has been locked up for six years and nine months after violently attacking a stranger in Dartford town centre. Arnott filmed himself repeatedly kicking and punching a man’s head while the victim lay motionless on the floor.

Unprovoked attack in the early hours

The shocking assault happened around 1.45am on Saturday 7 September 2019, near bins on Essex Road. Kent Police revealed Arnott was on his phone when a man casually walked past. Without warning, Arnott followed and punched the unsuspecting victim in the head, knocking him to the ground. He then kept punching and kicking the man’s head and upper body — 22 times in total — all while filming the brutal attack.

Guilty plea and harsh sentence

Arnott pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent at Woolwich Crown Court. Serious facial injuries were left on the victim, who was unknown to Arnott. Thanks to mobile phone data, CCTV footage, and forensic evidence, police arrested Arnott the next day.

“This was a vicious and unprovoked attack whereby Arnott kicked the victim repeatedly and continued to do so even though the victim was unable to defend himself. What is particularly disturbing about this case is that he actually filmed himself committing the attack,” said PC Michael Rake of North Kent CID.

“Arnott is a malicious, violent character and thankfully he has received a custodial sentence and will no longer be a threat to society.”
