Jack Lis Dies in Horrific Dog Attack

Jack Lis, a pupil at Cwm Ifor Primary School, died on November 8 after a savage dog attack at a house in Pentwyn, Penyrheol, Caerphilly. The 10-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene on the local housing estate. Armed police later shot and killed the dog involved.

Two Locals Charged Over Deadly Dog Attack

A 28-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man, both from the Caerphilly area, have been charged with being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing death. They were granted bail and are due to appear at Newport magistrates on April 7.

The 19-year-old also faces five further charges linked to dangerous dog control, including two counts of causing injury on dates between November 4 and 7.

Police Urge Respect for Ongoing Investigation

The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings are active and all the defendants have a right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings,” said Gwent Police temporary Assistant Chief Constable Mark Hobrough.

“Our investigation is still active, and we will speak to any other persons of interest as inquiries continue. Since starting this investigation in November, there has been significant community interest. We urge caution on social media, respecting Jack’s grieving family.”

Other Arrests and Releases

Two other 18-year-old men from Caerphilly, initially arrested on suspicion of dangerous dog control causing injury leading to death, have been released without charge. A 35-year-old man from Mountain Ash who voluntarily attended a police interview days after the attack was also released.
