British Men Captured by Russian Forces in Ukraine
Two British men, Paul Urey and Dylan Healy, were seized by Russian soldiers on Monday at a checkpoint south of Zaporizhzhia in south-eastern Ukraine, the UK non-profit Presidium Network confirmed.
Paul Urey, 45, from Manchester, is a family man with children. His worried mother, Linda, revealed he is diabetic and urgently needs insulin. Dylan Healy, a chef from Huntington, Cambridgeshire, was driving the vehicle when they were stopped by the Russian military.
The Foreign Office said it is urgently trying to gather more information about their capture.
Tragic Death of Journalist in Russian Missile Strike on Kyiv
Vera Gyrych, a journalist for Radio Liberty in Ukraine, was killed when a missile struck her home in Kyiv, the US-funded broadcaster confirmed.
“A wonderful person is gone,” said her colleague Oleksandr Demchenko on Facebook. Radio Liberty described Vera as “a bright and kind person, a true professional.”
The fatal missile attack happened during a visit by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to Kyiv. Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced that rescuers had found one body in the rubble of the Shevchenkivskyi district, but gave no further details on the victim.
Russia confirmed it targeted Ukrainian military sites but has remained silent on the missile strike that hit the residential building.
President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of trying to humiliate the United Nations with the attack.
